Description
Sheepguard®SE Oral drench for sheep with Selenium is a moxidectin (second generation macrocyclic lactone) endectocide which is effective against internal and external parasites sensitive to this family, including the following parasites of sheep. It also aids in the control of selenium responsive conditions. For the treatment and control of moxidectin-sensitive gastrointestinal parasites (including benzimidazole and/or levamisole resistant strains), lungworm and itchmite of sheep.
Mature (adult) and immature (L4): Haemonchus contortus Barbers pole worm, Trichostrongylus spp Black scour worm, Trichostrongylus axei Stomach hair worm. Trichostrongylus colubriformis, Ostertagia (Teladorsagia) spp Small brown stomach worm, Teladorsagia circumcincta, Cooperia spp Small intestinal worm, Cooperia oncophora, Nematodirus spp Thin necked intestinal worm, Nematodirus battus, Nematodirus fillicollis, Nematodirus spathiger, Strongyloides papillosus Intestinal threadworm, Oesophagostomum columbianum Nodule worm, Chabertia ovina Large mouthed bowel worm, Dictyocaulus filaria Large lungworm.
Adult nematodes: Â Trichostrongylus rugatus, Trichostrongylus vitrinus, Cooperia curticei, Nematodirus abnormalis, Nematodirus helvetianus, Teladorsagia trifurcate, Oesophagostomum venulosum Large bowel worm, Trichuris ovis.
Ectoparasites: Psorergates ovis itchmite. When used as recommended, Sheepguard SE prevents reinfection with H. contortus worms for at least 14 days and pasture contamination  by H. contortus eggs for at least 30 days after single treatment. It also prevents re-infection by Teladorsagia sp. worms for at least 14 days and pasture contamination by Teladorsagia eggs for at least 35 days after a single treatment. It is effective against benzimidazole and levamisole resistant strains of H. contortus, T. colubriformis and T. circumcincta. It has shown efficacy against a number of ivermectin resistant strains of H. contortus and Teladorsagis sp. However, as Sheepguard shares similar mechanism of action to the avermectins, it should not be used where avermectin resistance is present, except where specifically recommended by an advisor.
Contraindications: Do not use in goats.
Warnings: Do not add copper salts or additional selenium to this drench. This product should not be used when selenium intake from pasture is high or selenium is provided by other means (such as pasture top dressing, vaccine, pellets or selenium drenches) if blood selenium levels at treatment are high. Users can determine selenium status by consulting  a veterinarian.
The product may start to form crystals below 4°C. Before use under these circumstances, it is advisable to mix the product by inverting the drum three times.
Precautions: Safety directions. Poisonous if swallowed. Will irritate eyes and skin. Repeated exposure may cause allergic disorders. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. When opening the container and pouring large quantities, wear elbow length PVC gloves. Wash hands after use.
First Aid. If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131 126. If skin contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly.
Withholding Periods: Meat. 7 days. Milk. Do not use in female sheep which are producing or may in the future produce milk or milk products for human consumption..
Export Slaughter Interval 7 days.
Dosage and Administration: Ready to use. Administer 1 mL/5kg liveweight using any standard drenching equipment. Check dose rates and equipment before drenching commences. Sheep should be weighed prior to dosing. Dose the mob to the heaviest animal by liveweight in each group (ewes, rams, lambs). Do not underdose. Sheepguard SE has a wide margin of safety when used as recommended and is readily accepted by sheep.

Storage: Store below 30°C (room temperature) and protect from sunlight. Do not freeze.
